THE HAPPY POET

THE HAPPY POET is a 90-minute comedy that follows a one-time poet's attempt to run a successful vegetarian gourmet foodstand despite pressure to sell something easier--hot dogs. In an attempt to promote the business, the title character(Bill) hires new friend Donny, a brazen, cocksure individualist who has both event promotion and scooter delivery experience. While helping promote the foodstand, Donny runs a questionable side business, and helps Bill pursue Agnes, an intellectual poetry-lover who frequents the foodstand. Curtis, an enigmatic life philosopher who helps Bill at closing time in exchange for free food, buoys Bill's spirits when business is slow, and later affects the plot in an unexpected way. Complications with the foodstand jeopardize the budding friendships as well as Bill's sense of self-worth and faith in humanity.

Paul Gordon, who wrote THE HAPPY POET, will play Bill.
